nss-kerala-protest

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: NSS is intensifying protest against speaker A N Shamseer for his controversial statements about Hindu gods in a recent function. NSS will conduct a procession from Palayam Ganapati temple to Pazhavangadi in the capital city. The protest will be akin to the Sabarimala protest that happened in 2018. Nair service society will also observe a Faith Protection Day tomorrow.

NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair has written to presidents of all taluk unions of NSS to observe Faith Protection Day on August 2. The letter also asks the presidents and the organization members to reach the nearby Ganapathi temple and pray for the protection of faith. Sukumaran Nair has warned members to not indulge in any scuffles that can pave the way for religious hatred.

On Monday, NSS asked the speaker to withdraw his comments after the organization gauged that the words were ill-fitted and moreover hurt Hindu believers. Responding to NSS's suggestion, CPM state secretary M V Govindan extended support to speaker Shamseer and said there was nothing wrong with what Shamseer said and rejected calls for the speaker's resignation.
