THRISSUR: Ernakulam Excise branch questioned the woman suspected of framing Sheela Sunny, the owner of a beauty parlor in Chalakudy, in a fake drug case. The woman, who lives in Bengaluru, is Sheela's close relative.
The woman testified that she had gone to Sheela's house but she was not the one who put the drugs in the bag. The woman said that she had no need to involve Sheela in a drug case as she had a good relationship with her. The investigation team has not believed the statement. The woman may be questioned again.
Meanwhile, the investigation team is yet to get a clue about the person who informed the Excise CI K Satish that LSD stamps are hidden in Sheela's bag. The phone number used by the informant has been switched off. The information was given through a WhatsApp call. He introduced himself as Satish. The message was that there would be a stamp on Sheila's bag or cart and they could catch her if they reach before 4:30 pm.
Investigators said that some pieces of evidence are yet to be received and that the investigation was ongoing. Following the incident, CI K Satish was suspended. Sheela was released from jail on May 10 following the lab report that the seized substance was not drugs.
Case will be filed for compensation
Sheela is planning to file a case in court seeking compensation from the government as her beauty parlor has been shut down and her income stopped after she was caught in a false case and jailed. A case will also be filed for defamation.
