KOLLAM: The investigation team probing the Dr Vandana Das murder case has filed the charge sheet. The charge sheet states that the accused, who was an alcoholic, stabbed Vandana with the intention of murder and had definite knowledge of the crime. At 4.35 am on May 10, Dr. Vandana Das (23), the only daughter of KG Mohandas and Vasanthakumari, was killed by G Sandeep, of Srinilayam in Cherukarakonam and a teacher by profession.
Kollam District Rural Crime Branch DySP MM Jose submitted a 1050-page charge sheet at Kottarakkara Judicial First Class Magistrate Court 1 at 12.50 pm yesterday.
The report also states that there was no problem in the mental state of the accused at the time of the murder. Statements of 136 witnesses, including 15 eyewitnesses, CCTV footage, 200 pieces of mainour and scientific test reports were produced. Scientific reports of Vandana's bloodstain found on Sandeep's clothes are included as key evidence.
The charge sheet was filed in 84 days after the crime in a way that the accused cannot be released on bail.
