PATHANAPURAM: A timber merchant died after logs fell on him while loading in a lorry. Three people were injured. One of them is in critical condition.

The deceased has been identified as Sisupalan (68) of Asha Bhavan in Karavur, a contractor's helper. Suresh Kumar of Sudheesh Bhavan in Olappara, Vasundharan of Channakkaman Ramya Bhavan and Uttam Kumar of Kumar Bhavan in Maikkaman were injured.

The accident took place near Karavoor Mahadevar Valiyakavu High School at 1.30 pm yesterday. The accident occurred when the log was being loaded in lorry to Tamil Nadu.

Those present at the spot rushed the injured to the nearby taluk hospital, but Sisupalan succumbed to his injuries. Suresh Kumar was seriously injured and admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. Vasundharan and Uttamkumar are undergoing treatment at Punalur Taluk Hospital.
