KOLLAM: Amid the protest against speaker A N Shamseer for his controversial statements about Hindu gods in a recent function, an NSS president has performed a pooja for the speaker at a temple in Kollam. Anchal Job, the president of Asuramangalam No. 2128 Karayogam of Kollam Edamulackal Panchayat, performed the 'Shathrusamhaara Archana' for Shamseer.

The NSS's protest is related to the Ganesha reference in Speaker A N Shamseer's speech against the interpretation of myths as science. NSS is observing Faith Protection Day today. Namajapa procession is also being conducted. Sukumaran Nair today stated that the Speaker's statement is anti-Hindu and that he will stand with the RSS and the BJP in the defence of the faith.

'Hindus have a tradition of loving all religions. If you try to insult God with meanness and vileness, he will oppose you without compromise. BJP and RSS have already said this. NSS has decided to work in harmony with them. There is no need for the Speaker to resign. A man who has spoken so badly does not deserve to remain in office. He must apologise to the Hindus. He must admit that he made a mistake. If not, the government should take action. No science stands beyond faith', Sukumaran Nair said. Sukumaran Nair asked whether it is only in the case of Ganesha that science can be based.

Sukumaran Nair criticized A K Balan and asked who Balan was to reply that he was not worth it. There are Nairs in the Communist Party and the Congress. Nothing has been said about Shamsir for so long. We love our Muslim brothers. Most of them are good people. But there are some bugs. Sukumaran Nair said that their aim could be political or something else.
