MUMBAI: Famous Bollywood art director Nitin Desai was discovered dead in his studio. The police have concluded that it was a case of suicide. He was 58 years old. Nitin Desai was found hanging within his studio located in Raigad, Maharashtra. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.

Nitin Desai was born on January 25, 1965, in Dapoli, Maharashtra. He embarked on his artistic career in 1987 as an assistant art director in the television movie "Tamas." Subsequently, he worked as an assistant art director in television serials such as "Kabir" (1988-1990) and "Chanakya" (1991). Desai contributed to television series including "Bharat Ek Khoj" (1992-1993), "Kora Kagaz" (1993), and "Swabhiman" (1995-1996). He marked his Bollywood debut as an art director with "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" (1999). His other noteworthy Bollywood films encompass "Lagaan" (2001), "Devdas" (2002), "Swades" (2004), "Jodha Akbar" (2008) and "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" (2015).

He was bestowed with four National Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards for Best Art Direction. In 2016, the nation honored him with the Padma Shri award. Desai founded ND Studios, a film and television production center situated in Karjat, Maharashtra. He also produced the film "Desh Devi" (2002).
