THRISSUR: House surgeon Vandana Das, who died after being stabbed by an assailant at the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital, was posthumously awarded MBBS by the Kerala University of Health Sciences. Vandana's parents received the certificate from Governor Arif Mohammad Khan.

Vandana's mother, Vasantha Kumari, who was crying while receiving the certificate, was comforted by the governor. Vandana was stabbed to death in the early hours of May 10 while undergoing house surgery at the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital after her MBBS studies.

At the same time, the crime branch team filed a charge sheet against accused Sandeep in the Vandana Das murder case. The charge sheet came after the 83-day-long crime branch investigation. There are charges against Sandeep in eleven sections.

Murder (302), attempted murder (307), destruction of evidence (201), criminal intimidation (506-2), assault with a weapon (324), unlawful obstruction (341), assault causing injury (323), obstructing official duty (332),(333) and Assault on Public Servants (353) in addition to Sections of Medical Services Protection Act have been imposed. The main evidence in the report is the CCTV footage of the attacks carried out by Sandeep at the Hospital on the day of the incident.
