THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has announced a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the child killed in Aluva. The decision was taken at the cabinet meet convened here today. An amount of Rs 1 lakh was earlier sanctioned as emergency assistance.
The body of the five-year-old girl from Bihar, who went missing from Aluva Thaikkattukara on Friday evening, was found brutally raped and murdered on Saturday morning. The body was dumped in a garbage area behind the Aluva market near the Periyar River. The police had arrested Asafak Alam in connection with the incident. POCSO Court Judge K Soman had yesterday remanded Asafak to the custody of the investigating team for 10 days to interrogate him in detail and gather evidence.
