ALUVA: The Delhi Police may come to Aluva to interrogate Asfaq Alam, a Bihar native who is in police custody in the case of the rape and murder of a five-year-old girl in Thaikkatukara. Delhi Police held a preliminary discussion with DIG A Sreenivas and Rural SP Vivek Kumar in this regard.

In 2018, Ghazipur police had registered a POCSO case against Asfaq Alam for trying to molest a ten-year-old girl. He had spent 30 days in remand. Soon after getting released on bail, the accused fled the state. He was arrested by the Kerala police in the Aluva murder while the Delhi Police were searching for him. Upon checking his fingerprints, Aluva police came to know that Asfaq was the accused in the POCSO case registered by the Ghazipur police.

In the Aluva case, the accused will be in police custody till August 10. After that, the Delhi Police may record the arrest of the accused with the permission of the court.
