THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A boat that ventured into the sea for fishing overturned in Muthalapozhi. Sixteen people from Varkala were in the boat. All have been rescued. The accident happened Thursday morning at 6:30 am. The boat overturned due to the strong currents.

Six sustained injuries and they have been admitted at Chirayinkeezhu Hospital. The six have been identified as Savad, Sajeer, Ummer, Rubin, Kahar and Sahad. The boat Buraq owned by Noushad, a native of Varkala, overturned. Rescue operations were led by fishermen and marine enforcement.
