THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A complaint has been lodged to President Droupadi Murmu against Speaker A N Shamseer’s myth remarks. The complaint was filed by lawyer Koshy Jacob. The complaint said the speaker should be removed immediately and that he is not eligible to continue in that post. The complaint also alleged that the Speaker misused his post. The speaker made a statement that created a wound between different sections.

Meantime, Speaker Shamseer said that promoting science does not mean rejecting faith. Kerala is a land of secularism. Shamseer said that no force should be allowed to create division. He said this while speaking at the inaugural function of a school building in Malappuram.

He said Kerala culture respects all people. Distorting history and saffronising. Can oppose me. However, the speaker asked not to circulate facts which are not true.

‘People of all castes and religions should be able to sit together. They should be able to express their opinions. That is Kerala. Inviting non-Muslims to break the fast. Although Onam is the national festival of Keralites, it is mainly celebrated by Hindus. They invite Muslim brothers. This is Kerala. Hindus remember to chant Sandhya Naam when they hear the sound from the mosque. That is Kerala. There should be a declaration that no force will be allowed to create division between us,’ said Shamseer.
