PALAKKAD: Vigilance seized bribe money hidden away in the Walayar RTO check post during an inspection conducted on Wednesday morning. The officials at the checkpost hoarded the bribe money using magnets and notices.

Vigilance found Rs 13,000 in bribes. Of this, Rs 5,500 was hidden by the officials using a magnet. The method is to line up the notes with a magnet using a rubber band. Since it is a container-based check post, even if the vigilance team arrives, the bribe money can be magnetically thrown anywhere within seconds. Notices are also being used by officials to deceive vigilance officials. The notes were wrapped in notices and left carelessly. Vigilance also informed that check post officials use many such tricks to hide bribes.
