THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A fire broke out at a scrap shop in Killipalam in the evening hours of Friday. Fire first came out from an old scrap shop that mostly collected old newspapers and other redundant utensils. Black smoke started emanating from all quarters of the shop which alerted the locals and traders nearby.
The locals first tried their hand at dousing the fire but failed the attempt. The fire force has reached the location and the rescue operation is presently ongoing. Three units of fire force are currently in place and the fire is yet to be doused completely.
There is only one shop adjacent to the nearby premise of the accident and laborious works are ongoing to prevent the fire from spreading to the adjacent shops. The root cause of the fire accident is yet to be discerned. No humans were injured.
