KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized property documents worth Rs 12 crore during a raid at the house of Mathew International owner Joseph Mathew of Puthanveedu in Kochi in connection with a nursing recruitment scam case. Bank account with deposits upto Rs 76 lakh were frozen.

The raid, which began on Thursday, ended on Friday night. As per the case, the organization with offices in Kochi and Mumbai committed a fraud of crores in connection with the foreign recruitment of nurses. Records of assets worth Rs 13 crore and deposits of Rs 76 lakh in various banks were found. ED officials said that the deposits have been frozen and the investigation will continue.

The ED's action is a continuation of the CBI case of embezzling Rs 205.71 crore by charging exorbitant fees for recruiting nurses to Kuwait in 2015.
