SHARJAH: Malayali expatriate doctor passed away in UAE. Ernakulam Muvattupuzha native Dr Shermin Hashir Abdul Karim (42) died. She was serving as a periodontist at Sharjah University. She is the wife of Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Hashir. The children are Afrin, Sara and Aman. She had been living in the UAE for a long time with her family.

Meanwhile, there were reports earlier that the body of a Malayali expatriate who was stuck in Bahrain for a year due to legal entanglement was released to his relatives due to the intervention of M A Yusuff Ali. The body of Kurupalli Moideen, a native of Ponnani, was kept in a mortuary in Bahrain for ten months in the absence of identification documents.

Moideen was admitted to the hospital last October 19. After the death of Moideen, who lived in exile in Bahrain for 24 years, got into a complicated legal entanglement and his body could not be brought home. The brother went to the mortuary and identified the body but could not submit any document to confirm that the deceased was Moideen. Later, the proceedings were delayed for months. After learning about the information, Yusuff Ali contacted high-ranking officials including the Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain. Later, the body was handed over to the relatives. He was buried in the Kuwait Mosque in Bahrain.
