THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Action was taken against two hospital staff in Punalur taluk hospital where 11 patients suffered side effects after receiving injections. Nursing Officer and Grade-II Attendant were suspended. The action was taken following an investigation by the Kollam District Medical Officer. After noticing the incident, Health Minister Veena George had instructed the Director of the Health Department to conduct an investigation. The suspension followed an investigation by the Kollam DMO.
Due to complications like fever and shivering after taking the injection, three children were shifted to Thiruvananthapuram SAT Hospital and eight people to the emergency department of Taluk Hospital.
The people who received the injection started experiencing physical discomfort at around nine o'clock last night. They were experiencing tremors, weakness and body aches. The children were shifted to the SAT hospital with the help of nurses after the bystanders updated their health status. The authorities informed that the condition of the children is satisfactory. It is reported that the health condition of those who are in the emergency department of Taluk Hospital is also not serious. The bystanders alleged that the problem was caused by the injection of wrong drugs.
