BENGALURU: Chandrayaan 3 entered lunar orbit. ISRO announced that the probe entered the moon's orbit around 7 pm on Saturday. ISRO also stated that the lunar orbit insertion was successful. This was made possible by running the liquid propulsion engine in the propulsion module.
The first orbital descent of the Chandrayaan 3 probe, which is orbiting the moon, will take place tomorrow at 11 pm. The probe has now covered two-thirds of the distance from Earth to the Moon. The distance between the orbiting probe and the moon will be reduced in five stages. After reaching an orbit of 100 km, the lander will separate from the propulsion module. A soft landing of the lander will take place on August 23, after it enters an orbit 100 km away and 30 km closer to the moon.
