THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A number of irregularities were found during lightning checks conducted by vigilance at Akshaya centres under the name of Operation E-Seva. In most places, people are charged higher than government fixed fees for services.
Receipts are not given, financial transactions are not recorded in cash books, most of the places do not have a register for people to write complaints, and many places do not have enough computers and facilities. Vigilance also found that district coordinators who are supposed to inspect Akshaya centres are complicit in the irregularities.

The Akshaya Centers which were started in 2002 in Kannur Muzhappilangad, 2008 in Idukki Vandiperiyar, 2009 in Kottayam Manarcad, 2010 in Thiruvananthapuram Vattapara and in 2013 at Kayamkulam have not yet been inspected by the district coordinators. Vigilance also found that payments were made through Google Pay to the District Project Officer and Coordinator from Akshaya Kendras in Kozhikode Eranhipaalam and Pathanamthitta Maramon. A computer training centre is functioning at Akshaya Kendra, Kottiyam. The government has suggested that there should be no other institutions along with the Akshaya Centre. A digital camera is mandatory as per the government order but it is not available in many places. Vigilance Director TK Vinodkumar said that the inspection will continue to find irregularities and report will be submitted to the government about the irregularities found during the lightning inspection.
