THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ninth session of the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly, which begins tomorrow, is sure to be turbulent as both sides are gearing up to show maximum valor and swagger in the background of the upcoming Puthupally by-elections.

The opposition has enough weapons to attack the ruling party such as price hike, Plus One admission crisis, financial crisis, state police force, college principal recruitment controversy, AI camera, and drug mafia.

The ruling party is also ready to defend itself by projecting welfare and development issues, the case against K Sudhakaran in the Monson case, and the case against the leader of the opposition related to foreign funds and public politics in the uniform civil code.

The session is for 12 days aimed at legislation. It must be noted that the assembly session is being convened when the myth-belief controversy, which was stirred up by Speaker AN Shamseer regarding Lord Ganesha, is raging. It is not clear how the controversy will be reflected in the assembly. Members cannot make accusations against the Speaker, who is the leader of the House, without prior permission within the House. One can only seek approval for a resolution by giving prior notice to remove Shamseer from the post of Speaker.

It is certain that the opposition will use the criticism against the police in the Tanur custodial death case and the goonda issues in the capital. The initial failure of the police in finding the accused who raped and killed a five-year-old girl in Aluva will raise criticism.
