THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has ordered that children below the age of 15 should not be summoned to the police station for recording statements. Commission member PP Shyamala Devi gave an order in this regard to the police chief. The commission assessed that children were summoned to the police stations for recording statements, and observed that it was causing them mental difficulties and adversely affecting their character formation. The Commission directed the Fort SHO to take steps to resolve the complaint of a Thiruvananthapuram native and to provide counseling to the child if he has mental issues. The action taken report should be made available to the commission within 30 days.
