PALAKKAD: Two students who were taking bath in Walayar Dam were washed away in the strong currents. Tirupathi (18) and Shanmukhan (18), natives of Tamil Nadu, are the two washed away. They were students of Dhanalakshmi Engineering College in Coimbatore.

The accident happened around 12 noon in the area behind the Walayar Dam near the Tamil Nadu border. Eight students reached the dam. Three of the students who entered the water first met with the accident. Vishnu Kumar (18) was rescued by the local residents who went into the deep water. The other two met with the accident in the deep place. Walayar police and scuba diving experts are continuing search in the spot.
