NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the development of 508 railway stations in the country at the same time. Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the renovation of railway stations implemented as part of the Amrit Bharat project through video conferencing.
There are five stations in Kerala on the list of stations to be upgraded. Shoranur Junction, Tirur, Vatakara, Payyanur, and Kasaragod along with Mangalore Junction and Nagercoil stations are being upgraded. Including this, 25 stations of the Southern Railway are being upgraded. Renovation work on 508 stations where foundation stones have been laid will begin today.
5000 crore project is being implemented. Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan are upgrading the most stations with 55 each. As part of the project, railway stations will be upgraded with footbridges, lifts, escalators, parking facilities, restrooms, surveillance cameras, and generators, along with modern amenities for passengers. The length and height of the platforms will increase. Installation of more seats and construction of new roads to the station will be part of the project.
