THRISSUR: Minister Veena George stated that an independent media and its workers must coexist emphasizing that excessive competition in the media field is not conducive. The minister inaugurated the 10th T V Achutha Warrier award ceremony at the Thrissur Press Club, where students who achieved high marks among the children of media workers were honoured and sent off. Awards were presented to Santhosh S Pillai, cameraman from Manorama News and G Sivaprasad, photographer from Mathrubhumi.

T N Prathapan, Member of Parliament recalled that Achuta Warrier's legacy symbolizes a deaf individual transforming into enabling others to hear and see. A farewell was bid to media worker A Krishnakumari. N Rajan delivered the Achutha Warrier memorial lecture. O Radhika, President of the Press Club presided over the event. M V Vineetha, State President of KUWJ and E S Subhash, Vice Chairman of Kerala Media Academy addressed the gathering. Convener Bhasi Paangil introduced the award winners. Secretary Paul Mathew extended a welcome while Treasurer K Girish delivered the vote of thanks.

The minister presented awards to A Anujith, P Amogha, M V Krishnananda, P S Brahmadatta, Anna Therese, V H Srilakshmi, M Bhagat and Angel Maria Catherine. The Academy for Indian Civil Service's Chief Executive Officer, Major T John along with Abdul Haliq conducted a civil service training program for the students.
