THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With tributes to former chief minister Oommen Chandy and former governor Vakkom B. Purushothaman, the assembly session will begin on Monday. As a mark of respect to the late leaders, the house will not take any other programs on Monday.

The assembly session is for 12 days till the 24th of this month. This is the first session without Oommen Chandy in 53 years. In the last assembly session, Oommen Chandy was forced to take leave after his health deteriorated.

From Tuesday, the Kerala assembly will witness turbulent times with a roster of issues already planned up by the opposition to put pressure on the government. The repeated deaths in the Muthalapozhi estuary will be brought to attention while the AI camera fiasco will see the opposition trying all means to make CM Pinarayi Vijayan answer. And, at last, all eyes will be on speaker A N Shamseer as the Myth remarks will surely blare across the assembly. However, there is uncertainty on how strong the opposition will field the case, as fear looms in the UDF camp about BJP reaping the benefits of the campaign in the face of an impending Lok Sabha elections.

A special Bill that tightens provisions to prevent violence against health workers will be discussed today along with The Kerala Tax Amendment Bill. The advisory committee will decide the further course of action about what all bills are to be considered in the upcoming days.
