THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Seven people, including three relatives, drowned in three places in the state on Saturday and yesterday. Six of them are students. Three people died in Muvattupuzha River, two in Idukki Nedumkandam and two in Palakkad Walayar Dam.

Johnson (56), a native of Thottara Mundakkal, Aryankav, Johnson's brother's daughter Jismol (15), who had come on holiday from the UK, and Aloysius (16), a resident of Varikkamkunnu Poochakkad, his sister's son and a Plus One student of Brahmamangalam School, who went to take a bath in Muavatrupuzha River near Vellore Cherukara bridge, died in the current. Six of the nine-member group went down to take a bath at 11.30 pm yesterday. Jismol was swept away after her father Jobi Mathai, mother Soumya, Aloysius' mother Suni and cousin Mini came ashore. Two others drowned while trying to rescue her. The bodies were recovered at half past one.

Jobi and his wife Soumya, who are nurses in the UK, came to the country with their daughter two weeks ago following the death of Soumya's brother. Jismol was preparing for higher studies after 10th class. Aloysius' father Sabu and brother Akhil are in Italy. Johnson's wife: Selena.Jismol's siblings: Jewel and Joel. Jismol and her parents were due to return to the UK on Tuesday.

Sebin Saji (19) of Thannimoodu Kunnappally, a second-year graduate student of Nedumkandam MES College, and Pampadumpara Adiyarpuram Kunnathumala native Anila (16), a Plus One student of Kallar Govt. Higher Secondary School, were found dead in a water body near Thooval Waterfalls in Nedumkandam. Both arrived here on Saturday afternoon, which was Sebin's birthday. Anila's relatives filed a complaint with the police when Anila went missing. Sebin's bike was found near the falls around 6 o'clock and the bodies were recovered around midnight. It is concluded that both of them may have slipped. Sebin's father's name is Saji. Viji is his mother and his sister's name is Sneha. Anila's father is Ravindran. Mother: Shiny. Siblings: Akhil and Akhila.

Shanmukham (18), a native of Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, and Tirupathi (20), a native of Udumalpet, Tirupur, who were first-year undergraduate students of the Coimbatore Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Engineering College, drowned while taking a bath in the Walayar Dam. Locals rescued Vishnu Kumar (18), a native of Thoothukudi, who was swept away along with them. The accident took place at the dam area of Mavuthampathi in Navakkarai on the Tamil Nadu border around 12 noon yesterday.
