KOCHI: With only days left for the Onam market to wake up, KSEB has cut short the hopes of a young farmer. The allegation is that the KSEB has collectively cut down the bananas on the plantation of a farmer in Puthupady, Kothamangalam. Anish, a young farmer, complained that 406 bananas were cut down for the reason that a high-tension line was passing through.
The incident happened last Friday. Even though the area has been used for cultivation for years, the bananas were being cut down without any warning. The farmer also complained that KSEB was not ready to approach him before destroying such a high number of trees. Anish also stated that if he had been contacted, he could have thought of alternative measures.
Bananas grown ahead of the Onam market were the one that was destroyed due to KSEB's action. Most of the trees that were cut were ready to harvest. Anish informs that there has been a loss of around four lakh rupees. At the same time, Power Minister K Krishnankutty informed that the incident has been noticed and the Director of Transmission has been instructed to investigate. Further action will be taken after receiving the report.
