THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The process to register migrant workers in the 'Athidhi' portal will begin today. Minister V Sivankutty said that officials should work on war footing to complete the registration.

Registration will be implemented in a timely manner by involving more officers and volunteers with the cooperation of other departments. The minister also said that they will consider setting up help desks at railway stations.

Registration will be facilitated at labour department offices, work sites and labour camps. Labour commissioner Arjun Pandiyan said that the aim is to collect accurate information and ensure social security of migrant workers.

Unique ID obtained through registration will be mandatory for all benefits including Awas Insurance. It was also suggested that contractors and employers should ensure registration of workers. Register at athidhi.lc.kerala.gov.in portal.
