JAMMU: The army shot and killed one of the terrorists who attempted to infiltrate the Line of Control. Military sources have also confirmed that another individual was shot. The incident took place at 2 am on Monday in the Garhi Battalion area of the Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.

The army successfully prevented an infiltration attempt by two terrorists from Pakistan. The search for the terrorist who was shot is currently underway. This infiltration attempt in Poonch occurred after intelligence was received indicating that militants based in Pakistan were attempting to launch an attack in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Independence Day.

Following the incident, heavy security measures were imposed along the Line of Control and in critical areas. This marks the second intrusion attempt in the last 24 hours. On Sunday, the army killed a terrorist who was trying to infiltrate Kupwara. In response to the intrusion alert, the police and the army conducted a joint search operation in the area. The deceased terrorist is of Pakistani origin. Various types of firearms, weapons and 32 rounds of ammunition were recovered from him.
