NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi’s reentry into the parliament after a 136-day hiatus has increased his approval rating among 'INDIA' alliance members. As a shot in the arm, it will be Rahul, who will initiate the no-confidence motion against the government for the lapse shown in the northern state of Manipur. Earlier also the no-confidence motion was tabled against the government but coincidentally it was during this time that Rahul lost his Lok Sabha membership after the Surat court decision.
Members of the opposition coalition, 'INDIA,' welcomed Rahul to Parliament with applause, distributed sweets and were seen in their joyous best. In the interim, Rahul Gandhi updated his Twitter bio and added 'This is the official account of Rahul Gandhi' after removing his earlier satirical ‘Disqualified MP’. Meanwhile, top leaders within Congress prophesied great times ahead in the cards for Rahul Gandhi.
It was with lightning pace that the Lok Sabha Secretariat earlier disqualified Rahul Gandhi after hearing the Surat Court decision on defamatory remarks made by the Gandhi scion on the Modi community. The membership, which was cancelled on March 24, was restored after 136 days yesterday morning through a special order by Lok Sabha Secretary General Utpal Kumar Singh. The SC decision in favour of Rahul Gandhi happened on Friday but the secretariat showed lethargy in moving with procedures which led to protests from congress workers.
The Congress has also demanded the return of the official residence number 12, Tughlaq Lane for Rahul Gandhi. Seeing Rahul’s heroic return to the parliament, Congress Parliamentary Party leader Sonia Gandhi approached and greeted him with a kiss.
