PALAKKAD: Mass resignation has once again taken place in Palakkad CPI, where sectarianism is smoldering. 21 branch secretaries from Nenmara, Mannarkkad, and Elavancherry constituencies submitted their resignations to the leadership. Two bank directors and two panchayat members resigned in Mannarkkad. The mass resignation is in protest of the unilateral stand taken by the district leadership against Muhammad Muhsin MLA and the KE Ismail faction.

Nine branch secretaries of Thenkara and Kumaramputhur local committees of Mannarkkad mandalam, 12 branch secretaries of the Nenmara local committee and local secretary K Balandran submitted their resignations. It has been urged in the resignation letters that the state leadership should intervene to stop the sectarian activities of the leaders. Earlier, 13 activists, including district council member Palode Manikanthan and Seema Kongassery, had resigned due to their disagreements with the district leadership. The activists criticized the action taken by the district leadership against MLA Muhammad Muhsin, who pointed out corruption in the revenue department and civil supplies. The activists also demanded that action be taken against the district secretary. It is indicated that more people will leave the party if the state leadership does not intervene to solve the problems by withdrawing unnecessary measures against the leaders.
