KOTTAYAM: Massive robbery in a private financial institution in Kottayam. The robbery took place at Sudha Finance on MC Road at the Kurichi Mandiram intersection. Pawn gold worth one crore rupees and eight lakh rupees were reported missing. The firm has been run by Parameswaran Nair and his son Sajikumar of Parappuram for 27 years. Parameswaran Nair went home at five o'clock on Saturday evening after locking the finance and the upper grill on the second floor. Sunday was a holiday. Yesterday morning at 8:30, when the employee of the nearby lab came to turn on the motor, she saw the lock of the grill on the chair next to the bottom of the grill. Thinking that he had forgotten to lock it, she immediately called Parameswaran Nair. Gold and money were stolen by breaking open the locker. Soap powder was also sprinkled inside and outside the establishment. Gold and money were kept in two iron lockers.

The theft is suspected to have taken place after midnight. The police concluded that a professional group could be behind the theft. CCTV was installed but the thieves took away the hard disk. The footage is not available on the CCTV of the opposite shop. A person's footprint is imprinted in the soap powder sprinkled inside the establishment. A blade of a rechargeable cutter and torn newspaper were found inside the establishment. Chingavanam police, fingerprint experts and the dog squad conducted the investigation.
