v-d-satheesan

KOTTAYAM: CPM stands against the Congress' move to confer sainthood on Oommen Chandy. V D Satheesan's reference to holiness is aimed at making Puthupally akin to Ayodhya. K Anilkumar, a CPM state committee member has written an open letter alleging this. The matter has also been discussed on social media. It is alleged that this is a formula devised to secure victory in the election.

The letter says:

Since when has Oommen Chandy become a saint for V D Satheesan who previously rejected him consistently? Was Oommen Chandy considered a saintly figure when he appointed Ramesh Chennithala as the Leader of the Opposition in 2016? In 2021, when the UDF faced another defeat, you sidelined both Punyalan (Oommen Chandy) and Chennithala to assume the role of the Leader of the Opposition.

Did you not reject Oommen Chandy relentlessly until his recent passing? Even when Oommen Chandy and Chennithala approached the High Command regarding the repeated neglect of K Sudhakaran, you did not regard him as virtuous. Oommen Chandy's demise coincided with the decision of A group members to travel to Delhi again. Now, with the elections approaching, there's a strategic imperative to secure victory. One tactic for this is crafting myths. It's noteworthy that you, who do not hesitate to light a lamp in front of Savarkar's picture are adept at exploiting the faith of believers.
