CHENNAI: Three people were injured in a blast in cracker godown in Krishnagiri district. In July, nine people lost their lives in an explosion in another firecracker godown in the same district. The accident happened during the official inspection that followed.
The incident took place at a warehouse in Kelamangalam near Krishnagiri. The accident occurred when an officer who came for inspection was opening a box. Among the injured are Krishnagiri district revenue officer Balaji, tahsildar and cracker godown manager. The injured were admitted to a hospital in Hosur. It is reported that the condition of the manager is serious.
Last month, there was an explosion at a firecracker factory called Shree Om Crackers in Krishnagiri. Nine people including the owner Ravi were killed in the accident. Many people were injured. Three houses were completely destroyed by the force of the explosion. The Prime Minister announced Rs 2 lakh and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Rs 3 lakh exgratia for the families of the deceased.
