KOZHIKODE: Harsheena and the leaders of the Samara Samiti blockaded the DMO office in protest against the medical board's rejection of the police investigation report in the case of scissors stuck in the stomach during delivery surgery. The strike was alleging that the DMO conspired to sabotage the investigation.

The blockade which started at 12 noon lasted till one o'clock. Subsequently, police took 12 people into custody, including Harsheena, her husband Ashraf, the chairpersons of the strike committee, Dinesh Perumanna, Mustafa Palazhi and EP Anwar Sadat. The police took them to the station and released them without registering their arrest.

Harsheena said she would appeal the board's findings to the higher authority. A one-day fast will be observed in front of the secretariat on 16th. Harsheena said that she will go to any extent to get justice and will continue her struggle until the truth is proven and will approach the court against the report.

The police investigation was conducted during the second phase of the protest which started in front of the medical college under the leadership of the Harsheena Samara Sahaya Samiti. The police found that the scissors stuck in Harsheena's stomach belonged to the medical college but the medical board's assessment was that it was not possible to say from the available evidence that the scissors got stuck during the surgery in which hospital. All seven members of the medical board were in favour of Dr. PB Saleem's argument. The board submitted its report recording the dissent of investigating officer ACP K Sudarshan and public prosecutor M Jayadeep.
