KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode Palayam Supplyco Outlet Manager (Outlet Incharge) K Nithin was suspended from service for writing 'not available' in the price list due to non-stock of essential items. Supplyco MD issued the suspension.

The action was taken on the grounds that the board was written despite having enough stock in such a way as to defame the government. On the 4th of this month, Kerala Kaumudi had published the 'Not available' board displayed at the Supplyco Palayam outlet. As per the instructions of the Minister, Supplyco's Assistant Regional Manager inspected the shop on the same day. The suspension is based on the report given by him.

On the other hand, Nithin, who has undergone action, says that the 'not available' board was placed because the goods were not in stock. The official instruction is to write down what is in stock and what is out of stock to avoid the hassle of people. That is why the board was placed. Nithin also told the media that the stocks found during the inspection were inedible.

According to the employees Supplyco and the government are to blame for the non-availability of goods and it is unfair to scapegoat the employees. Even though the outlet manager was suspended and retaliatory action was taken, most of the Supplyco outlets in Kozhikode, including Palayam, have subsidized goods in low stock only. No more than five items among the 13 subsidised items are available anywhere.
