KALAMASSERY: The police arrested 20-year-old youth identified as Niranjan alias Febin of Kalamassery Rajagiri in the case of suicide of a 13-year-old girl. The girl was found hanging at her home on July 12.

Police said the girl, who was mentally stressed due to the harassment of the youth, took the drastic step. The youth had constantly proposed to the girl. He told her that if she does not love him, he will not allow her to live peacefully.

After she rejected his love, he talked bad about the girl. She then informed her family and they conveyed the matter to the youth’s family. The youth continued to annoy her again after a few days.

The youth stopped the girl while she was returning from school and hurled abuses at her. He also threatened her in front of others. The student committed suicide after this. The accused who was absconding was nabbed by inspector Vipindas, police officers Sreejith, Shibu and Adarsh. He was produced in the court and remanded.
