THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: No adjournment motion will be moved in the assembly on the controversy related to the monthly payment given to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's daughter Veena Vijayan. Reports said the opposition will not turn it into a political weapon as the names of prominent UDF leaders are also included in the order.
Veena was paid a monthly salary by a private company called Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL). The New Delhi bench of the Income Tax Interim Settlement Board said the payment was made in the name of a relationship with a prominent person.
The chief minister's name is also there in the order clarifying Veena Vijayan's dealings. Opposition leaders including Oommen Chandy, Ramesh Chennithala and Kunhalikutty also is said to have received money. However, how much amount each got has not been mentioned.
It is reported that Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited CFO K S Suresh Kumar stated that money was given to politicians for the smooth functioning of their businesses.
