KOZHIKODE: The department of motor vehicles has banned using vehicles for Onam celebrations in colleges and schools. Kozhikode North Region deputy transport commissioner R Rajeev has informed that strict action will be taken against those who hold celebrations using vehicles.

Strong action will be taken against vehicles and owners who organize rallies and races by modifying the appearance of cars, jeeps and bikes. Lightning inspections will be conducted in schools and colleges. Rajeev said that parents and teachers should be cautious against conducting such programmes. The deputy transport commissioner informed that if legal violations are noticed, immediate action will be taken if the respective offices are informed.
