THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM state secretariat said in a statement that the news regarding Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's daughter receiving 'monthly quota' has nothing to do with reality.

'Two legally operating companies have legally entered into a service provision agreement. The payment was made as per the terms of the contract. That money was given on an annual basis. Those spreading fake news are portraying this as a monthly quota in order to gain credibility,' the statement read.

'The contract between the two companies is a transparent one. All the money transactions based on it have been done through the bank. However, transactions between two companies in accordance with the law have been portrayed as monthly bribes. The company named CMRL had gone before the Interim Settlement Board to resolve an income tax dispute. Veena's company is not a party in this matter and the company's side has not been heard. Yet, there is a conspiracy to connect the company at the time of the announcement of Puthuppally by-election,' the statement further read.

"Children of politicians have the same right as any other citizen to take up any legitimate occupation. Based on that, Veena also started a consulting company. All the operations of the company are transparent. The company that gave the money has stated that there was no wrongdoing in this regard. It is also clear that the Chief Minister has nothing to do with this,' CPM said.
