NEW DELHI: A Meitei woman also reported that she was sexually assaulted during the 100-day period of the Manipur riots. A 37-year-old woman, who was attacked in Churachandpur on May 3, lodged a complaint at the police station yesterday. The attackers set her house on fire and attempted to flee. As she tried to escape, the assailants subjected her to a gang rape on the ground. The woman also mentioned that she found herself in the Meitei region when she regained consciousness. The news about the Meitei woman's assault surfaced after video footage of Kuki individuals exploiting young women shocked the nation.

Meanwhile, Kuki-Somi students took to the streets advocating for a separate administration. A van rally was coordinated in Churachandpur.

Forty Meitei MLAs of Manipur have submitted a petition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing their lack of confidence in the Assam Rifles' presence in the conflict zone. The petition demanded the withdrawal of the Assam Rifles and the deployment of a reputable central force.

During a discussion with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the tribal organization reached an agreement to identify an alternative location for the mass cremation of 35 Kukis who lost their lives in the clashes. The decision to conduct a mass burial at a disputed site with the Meiteis resulted in a conflict.
