THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Wayanad resident K A Roymon received the Ciby Kallingal Memorial Karshakothama Award (Rs. 2 lakhs) for the best farmer instituted by the State Agriculture Department. Mitraniketan Padmashri K. Viswanathan Memorial Nelkathir Award (Rs 5 lakhs) for Group Farming went to Alappuzha Kainady Cherukara Kayal Nellutpadaka Samiti.

P. Raghunathan, a native of Palakkad Vannamada, was awarded the Kerakesari Award (Rs 2 lakhs) for besting in coconut farming.

Young Farmer Award went to L. Reshma from Alappuzha (Rs 1 lakh). Young farmer (Rs 1 lakh) to C. Shyam Mohan from Thrissur. The best organic farmer (Rs 2 lakhs) award went to K T Francis from Kozhikode. Harithamitra Award for a vegetable farmer (Rs 1 lakh) went to Sujith S V, a resident of Karakulam, Thiruvananthapuram.

V V Raghavan Memorial Award for Best Krishi Bhavan (Rs 5 lakhs) went to Alathur Krishi Bhavan functioning in Palakkad.

Minister P. Prasad announced that the Chief Minister will present the awards at Nishagandhi Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram on August 17th. The minister also felicitated Parapi, a tribal grandmother of Vithura, who won the national award for plant genetics conservation by cultivating a rare species of palm tree.
