THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ‘Sir, I have arrived safely in the country, and both my relatives and I are feeling joyful.’ These are the words of Birshu Raba upon his return to West Bengal by plane from Thiruvananthapuram. There was a sum of 66 lakhs in Birshu's bank account upon his return. The Thampanoor police promptly intervened and arranged for his journey back home via plane. The flight tickets were procured using the winnings from a lottery. The police assisted Birshu in opening a new account at the Federal Bank branch located at Lulu Mall. They provided him with a debit card and a cheque book for his transactions. The tax payment was processed and received on a Wednesday. The story of Birshu, who visited the police station upon discovering his 1 crore lottery victory fearing it might lead to some unfortunate event garnered significant attention. He had won the first prize in the Fifty-Fifty Lottery. The winning ticket was purchased from a lottery vendor in Thampanoor towards the end of June. Upon his return home, Birshu sent a video expressing his gratitude to the government and the Thampanoor police, which was shared with Thampanoor CI.
