THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Several famous educational groups, trusts, and societies of the country are planning to start a private university in Kerala. Medical, technological, and law universities are in demand in the state. A few groups in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have expressed their willingness to the government. Adani Group, which has a university in Gujarat, may also start a university in Kerala. Meanwhile, the applications submitted by Rajagiri in Kochi and Mar Ivanios in Thiruvananthapuram for deemed university will not be considered.

Private universities that will come up in the state will have innovative courses with great job opportunities. Beyond earning graduation, the courses ensure high-paying employment. Thus, private varsities will help to solve the issue of unemployment.

With the introduction of courses like epidemiology, virology, immunology, biological data management, and medical documentation, which will attract even foreign students, the government reckons that Kerala will become a global education hub. There will also be triple major courses in Chemical Biology, Systems Biology, Computational Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, and Statics.

40 percent private universities
40% of the total universities in the country are private universities. 20 lakh children are studying in these universities. Most universities have vocational courses. Agreements can be made with IITs and foreign universities for research and student training.
