THIRUVANANTHAOURAM: Passengers complaint that there are no special trains from various places to reach Kerala for Onam. Two Onam special trains each to Bengaluru and Chennai have been announced, but no services have been announced yet from Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad, where there are a large number of Malayalis.
With Onam around the corner, bus ticket prices from these places will go up sharply. Trains were allowed from Mumbai and Delhi in previous years, but it was stopped from last year.
The Mumbai Malayalee association had submitted a petition to the railway authorities requesting to allow an Onam special train to Kerala this time. A special train was sanctioned from Delhi last year. Currently, these people are dependent on airplanes. Due to the dynamic pricing system, there is concern that with the increase in demand, the airfare will also increase.
