KOZHIKODE: The court sentenced an accused to 12 years of rigorous imprisonment for possessing 250.51 grams of methamphetamine. A fine of Rs one lakh has also been imposed on him. The Vadakara NDPS special court awarded the sentence to the accused Saddique of Kozhikode Areekode based on evidences.
The accused was nabbed from Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express jointly by a team led by excise special squad circle inspector V R Devadas and Kozhikode railway protection force as per the IB report of 25/5/2022. The drugs in 10 plastic covers were found hidden under the clothes in the cardboard marked as ‘mini storm manual soft bullet gun’ in his bag.
Kozhikode assistant excise commissioner M Sugunan had submitted a report after an investigation. The court imposed the sentence after assessing the far-reaching effects of lethal drugs on the society.
