KOTTAYAM: Lashing out at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Opposition Leader V D Satheesan on Friday said that the Opposition is not afraid of the CM. He was responding to CPM leader A K Balan's statement that the opposition did not introduce a no-confidence motion in the Assembly as they were afraid of Pinarayi Vijayan's reply.
"It has been six months since Pinarayi Vijayan opened his mouth. How can a person who is afraid of talking to the media reply to the Opposition? There is a section to raise allegations of corruption. We will proceed accordingly. We are not living here in fear of Pinarayi Vijayan. Despite facing such a huge allegation, the Chief Minister has not been able to hold a press conference and convince them that there is no mistake on the part of the government," Satheesan said.
"While former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was undergoing treatment, the present government did not provide him any kind of treatment apart from forming a committee. It was Oommen Chandy's family and the party that stood by him. His wife and three children were always with him. We were there at the hospital to provide help. Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi used to call every week and inquire about his health. The Congress national leadership was inquiring everything about his treatment from the beginning. CPM is now saying that Chandy Oommen should not go to church. As per their customs, prayers will be held for 40 days in the church after the death of a person. Can the rituals be ignored considering that the election has been declared? CPM is degrading themselves by coming up with such strange demands," Satheesan said.
