MUMBAI: Indian batter Shikhar Dhawan recently said that he was shocked upon learning that he was not selected for the Indian team that will take part in the Asian Games this year. He said that he was happy that youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad will be leading the side in the Asian Games.
"I was a bit shocked upon learning that my name was not there for Asian Games. However, the management might be having a different thought process. Anyways, I'm happy that Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the side. All the young boys are there, I am sure they will do well. I am preparing to come back to the national side. That's why I always try to stay fit," Dhawan said.
"I am enjoying cricket training very much. Whatever decision is made, I respect that. I haven't talked to the selectors. However, I will continue my training at National Cricket Academy. I need to prepare for the next season of IPL. I hope that I can play in tournaments such as Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy," he added.
