KAVARATTI: Lakshadweep government has revised the uniform of students. Belt, tie, shoes and socks are allowed. The circular was issued by Lakshadweep Directorate of Education. It is reported that there is no mention of scarf or hijab in the circular.

Lakshadweep MP Mohammed Faizal has alleged that there is a complete ban on wearing scarves and hijabs for girls studying in schools under the education department. 'There is no mention of a scarf or hijab. This is a violation of a person's constitutional rights. We will deal with this politically and legally," said Faisal.

The principals and headmasters of the schools under the Lakshadweep administration received the circular yesterday. The education department has said that they will ensure uniformity in the uniform of the students and instil a spirit of discipline in the students.
