KOZHIKODE: After human rights activist Grow Vasu repeated in the court that he did not want bail, the court extended his remand till the 25th. Grow Vasu was jailed in a 2016 road blockade case to protest the Maoist hunt. Grow Vasu was remanded after he insisted that he would not sign the necessary documents, although the magistrate granted bail in the case. He was presented directly in the Kunnamangalam court today as soon as the remand period was completed, but he reiterated his position that he would not take bail.

Grow Vasu responded to the media that he was protesting against the double justice of the government and the police. 'My fight is not with the court. Court can act according to the law. Errors in law will be questioned. I am ready to sacrifice my life for it. There is no case in the killing of Maoists but a case was filed against me for protesting. This shows the double justice of the government, he said.

Grow Vasu blocked the road in protest when Maoists were killed in an encounter with state forces in Karulai in 2016. Due to his persistent non-appearance in the case, a Long Pending warrant was issued. Following this, medical college police arrested Grow Vasu last month and produced him in court.
