THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Children will always remember the captivating sight of oxygen and hydrogen combining to form water on a large screen in a well-appointed theatre, much like a movie. This innovative academic theatre situated within a school campus in Kerala marks a pioneering effort to impart lessons through visually engaging videos.

With a seating capacity of over 100, equipped with Dolby sound systems, a high-definition 2K resolution screen, air conditioning, microphones and even artificial intelligence software, learning has now evolved into a cutting-edge theatrical experience. The inauguration of this theatre is scheduled for this month, funded at a cost of Rs 50 lakh. The advanced amenities have been generously provided by the Aries Group from the UAE, renowned for establishing top-tier theatres in Kerala.

Initial screenings will feature educational videos from NCERT. Additionally, short films catering to children will be presented. The videos can be paused to facilitate doubt clarification and note-taking. Furthermore, questions related to the video lessons will be posed, aided by the integrated artificial intelligence software. Teachers will offer explanations following the video presentations.

The Inspiration from Finland

The concept of a learning theatre, where lessons are absorbed through sight and sound, was inspired by a conversation with a teacher in Finland, as stated by the school manager, P Subhash Chandran.

The Noble Group of Schools encompasses Sri Sharada Vilasam Girls Higher Secondary School, Sri Chithira Vilasam Boys High School, Sri Chithira Vilasam Lower Primary School and a Kindergarten, all situated within a four-and-a-half-acre campus. This campus accommodates more than 4000 students in total.

Students are slated to spend a minimum of three class periods each week in this theatre. This innovative approach has the potential to be emulated throughout Kerala, reshaping the educational landscape.
